RS developer Jagex hires new staff from EA, Smilegate and Ubisoft

RuneScape developer Jagex has hired a lot of new hires who have experience with Ubisoft, Smilegate, Electronic Arts, and more.

First we have former DAQA founder and VMC business development director Ben Wibberley joining as vice president of gaming operations for the UK studio. With 25 years of industry experience, Wibberley will focus on providing quality control for all Jagex games, maturing and expanding Jagex localization efforts, as well as overseeing outsourcing activities.

Chris Stamp was named lead producer of the unannounced project, with 18 years of experience at Ubisoft, Earthbound Games and Reagent Games. Finally, Jay "Jaeyoung" Cho will join Jagex as Lead Producer at Old School RuneScape. Cho previously served as a producer at Eyasoft before becoming director of business development and strategy at Smilegate. Most recently, he was the head of mobile development at EA in South Korea.

"Deep Experience"

"As we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the RuneScape franchise, we continue to develop RuneScape and Old School RuneScape for our amazing community on PC and new platforms - both are now available on mobile and Steam," said Jagex CEO Phil Mansell.

“When you consider releasing our first third party game, Space Punks, developed by Flying Wild Hog and released under the Jagex Partners banner, it's clear that we will continue to build our teams and expand the reach and appeal of our games to old and new audiences. ".

Nick Beliaeff, Senior Vice President of Development at Jagex added: “We are delighted to bring so many new and talented people to Jagex, especially in these difficult times. "Hiring the best and adding the in-depth experience we already have will remain critical to our continued success and to keeping both the RuneScape series and other projects under development."

These appointments follow Jagex recruitments in June, which hired employees from PlayStation, Bethesda and Insomniac Games.
